Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
🌿 Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question before your next adventure? We’ve got answers.
1. What makes NOMaste meals different from other camping meals?
Our meals are truly freeze-dried (not dehydrated), 100% plant-based, and made in small batches. They're crafted for flavor, nutrition, and packability because soggy pasta and mystery powder aren't your thing.
2. Are your meals vegan and gluten-free?
All meals are vegan and free of dairy, eggs, and meat. Some meals are naturally gluten-free (like our Coconut Chickpea Curry), but we prepare everything in a shared kitchen. If you have severe allergies, we recommend reviewing the ingredient list before ordering.
3. How do I prepare a NOMaste meal on the trail?
Just add boiling water, reseal the pouch, and wait 8–10 minutes. Stir halfway for best results. No cleanup, no mess, just fuel for the next leg of your hike.
4. What’s the shelf life of NOMaste meals?
Our meals last 1+ years when stored in a cool, dry place, thanks to the freeze-drying process and oxygen absorbers in every pouch.
5. Are your meals made in Minnesota?
Yes! We’re a Minnesota-based, woman-owned small business. Every meal is made with care, using responsibly sourced ingredients and bold flavors from around the world.
6. Do you ship outside Minnesota?
Yes! We currently ship across the U.S. through our Shopify store. If you’re located outside the U.S., send us a message and we’ll try to make it happen.
7. Where can I find nutrition info for each meal?
You’ll find nutrition labels on each product page. We break it down by 2-serving pouches, so you know exactly what you're fueling up with.
8. Can I buy meals in bulk or wholesale?
We’re working with outdoor stores, co-ops, and independent retailers to expand access. If you’re interested in stocking NOMaste, send us a message.Â
9. Are your meals spicy?
They’re flavorful, not fiery. We aim for a balance of warm Indian spices without overwhelming heat. No tears, just taste.
10. Where did the idea for NOMaste come from?
One hike, one spoiled sandwich, and one very hungry day in Tahoe. Our founder (hi, I’m Neha) wanted real, flavorful food on trail so she made it. NOMaste was born from that craving for nourishment that’s light, ethical, and satisfying.
